A massive thank you to the magical Medway Family for letting me in to document them in their home & hood. This is my favourite thing to do – recording families just being together, because that’s where the magic is.
When I sat down with Brian & Stacey & @rachelpollardcelebrant a few months ago to talk about how their wedding day would look this was definitely not it. After the initial shock these guys just took the ball & ran with it & in the end the result was a beautifully personal commitment to each other, a celebration of their love story so far & dreams for its future. They were wed on family property underneath a magical tree planted by Stacey’s grandfather, with virtual guests Zoomed in for the action. Stacey carried a perfectly crafted bouquet from Boheme Botanical & wore a Kinga Csilla frock from Nik & She. It was a perfect Autumn day & we made some beautiful photos to remember it.
One of my absolute favourite things about this job, apart from all the lovely LOVE, is meeting cool guests at weddings & then being honoured with shooting their nuptials down the track. I love the familiar faces, the intertwined relationships & getting to see couples in the way that their family & friends see them. Ash & Damien’s wedding was one of these awesome celebrations & having already met them at Anwyn & Sam’s Wooli wedfest I knew we were in for a good time. They were surrounded by so much love & so many laughs & even had their own party within the party with their close crew as their attendants.
Ash wore a freaking fabulous two-piece from Bo & Luca, purchased from Your Art Bridal, teamed with a dreamy headpiece by Simone Rocha. Her hair (& her girls’) by the master Sarah Niell & makeup by the KM Makeup Studios team. Florals were by the Bouquet Boutique, wedding rings by Damien’s cousin at Andronis Jewellery & following a beautiful service at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Brisbane & the reception was held at the Greek Club. I was lucky to have Dave join me so we could get all their best angles & documenting different places at the same time 😉
I don’t want you to do anything special when I come to your place. I want you to just hang out & roll around in the chaos of normal family life so I can document it – wipe the faces, put on the shoes, kiss the injuries, give the snacks, drink the coffee/tea/beer/wine. I want you not to worry about what your kids are saying or doing. I want to know about you & where you grew up & what you do for a living. Most of all though I want to be able to transport you (& your kids) back there when these days are a distant memory. Just be TOGETHER – That’s it.
