I just love documenting this little family. Two years ago Ruby was a baby & Lawson was a four year old with dreams of being a cowboy. It’s amazing how much things can change for small people in that amount of time.
Little Halle slept like a little angel for pretty much our entire session (just to make a liar out of her parents who informed me that she was normally VERY awake at this time). And after an entirely overcast day the sun made up for lost time with some amazing light shining down on their little family.
This is normally where I’d rave about how awesome & relaxed these guys were but instead I have stolen their seven year old daughter’s reading because it pretty much sums up everything about everything, EVER, L.
Hi, my name’s Roxy. Most people think you keep learning for your whole life… but I think they’re wrong, because everything I needed to know, I learnt in kindergarten.
Don’t hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
Say sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Give them to someone who feels sad.
Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing some, and dance and play and work every day.
Take a nap every afternoon.
Be aware of wonder.
Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere.
And it is still true, no matter how old you are, that when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.
These guys came all the way from Canada & due to a week of horrible rain & cold we had to reschedule their shoot about three times. Good thing we did because we were rewarded with this absolutely magic afternoon on Sawtell Beach.
