James & Georgia {Bellingen Wedding Photographer}

I have thought a great deal about what I would like to write about this day & these lovers & the strength Georgia holds & the gentle way James (& his family) have held space for her & her family. I don’t really have the words though & I’m not going to pretend I understand loss in this sense. What I can understand & what was palpable on the day was JOY. These two had the most beautiful & fun celebration completely wrapped in the love of their friends & fam. People say cliche things all the time about making the most of every single day but sometimes things happen & there is a new truth to these old sayings. These two absolutely made this day count!

Georgia & James were married by Maree on the lawns at Bellingen Valley Lodge where they were watched over by a friendly kookaburra & followed with their reception in the Lodge itself. Georgia’s gown was from local Coffs Coast bridal store Melanie Jayne Couture & her attendants dresses were by Hansen & Gretel, flowers were from Pansabella Providores, hair by J Society & makeup by Blush. Vegetarian & vegan menus catered for by the Lodge & vegan doughnuts by Doughnut Time with raw cake by Motherlover.

James & his boys had a little pre-wedding “detailing” at Upstairs Barber Co. in Sawtell in the days leading up to the wedding so it seems fitting to start there. They wore suits from ASOS on the day.

Cheree & Steve: Country Hall Wedding, Gleniffer {Bellingen Coffs Harbour Wedding Photographer}

I first met these guys when they brought their little Evie into the world & now here they are making it all official. Steve & Cheree had the most heartfelt & fun wedding on the banks of the Never Never. Steve & his groomsmen led a parade of family & friends along a trail of wattle flowers to the spot where Cheree & her girls stood waiting for them. They exchanged personal vows & signed their Certificate of Marriage on each other’s backs. As the sun dropped the fire was lit & the smell of the wattle bouquets filled the little hall.

Steve & Cheree made the day their own by making sure they prioritised what was important to them & not worrying about the rest. They chose to see each other before their ceremony to get rid of any nerves & to have some precious moments alone before letting their family & friends bear witness to their nuptials. They were surrounded by genuine warmth, love & good feeling all day & it was my absolute pleasure to document.

Georgi & Mitchell {Coffs Harbour Bellingen Wedding Photographer}

Georgi & Mitchell’s wedding day was one of those delicious Australian Autumn days – golden leaves,  perfect (& still warm) temperatures & lovely subdued light. They surrounded themselves with their dearest friends & family & the energy as they exchanged their vows underneath their magical arbour, was palpable. For me it was one of work days where I felt welcomed by all these gorgeous people & arrived home feeling truly grateful that I get to document these momentous events in people’s lives.

Thank you, G & M xo

Sam & Anwyn – Wooli Wedding {Coffs Harbour Wedding Photographer}

Sam & Anwyn decided to bring this whole backyard shindig together themselves with their beautiful friends & family in Anwyn’s Heart Home of Wooli, NSW. The weather did not make it an easy feat with a full week of rain in the lead up & an absolutely torrential downpour on the day. Tables were moved out & then in & then out & in again & when we finally thought were in the clear & began the ceremony the sky turned black & the heavens opened just as the pair exchanged their vows & everybody was forced to run for cover. Despite all of this the day was completely joyous – everyone rallied to help shift things undercover & then out again whilst Anwyn greeted guests in her robe & calmly waited for the storms to pass. In the end we were rewarded with an afternoon of warmth, light sun showers, blue skies & then an amazing pink sunset. The champagne flowed, guests danced & laughed & celebrated #samwyn. It was truly my pleasure to be a part of this day.

Emily & Her Rueben {Coffs Harbour Family Photographer, Mother & Child, Film Photographer}

It’s no secret that photographing families & in particular mothers at home is one of my favourite things to do & when I get to do that on film I am even happier <3

The longer I document families the more I am drawn to making simple portraits that do not bow to fashion trends or editing fads. I want to make images that will stand the test of time, that encapsulate a feeling for those people in that moment & that have the power to transport them back when they look at them in years to come.

Emily was completely on board with this. I hope she sees how beautiful she is as a mother, embracing these early days, rolling with the highs & lows, knowing it is all so fleeting.

The grain is good & if you want to make some beautiful frames of your own shoot me an email & let’s make it happen while you can still hold those little people in your arms.
